After a third day of competition, the first four teams advance to the main event, as we also bid goodbye to eight teams who find their run in Series 3 cut short.
In the upper bracket, the top eight seeds were back in action after their round 1 bye.
The teams advancing to the qualification matches in the upper bracket were Cloud9 White, Immortals, Evil Geniuses, Misfits Black, Shopify Rebellion, Complexity GX3, TSM X, and XSET Purple. Their victories sent Ariana Grande Perfume, Fake Aussies, Tactical Throwers, Team Mystic Venus, Dart Monkeys, hamboigas, EQ Cerise, and Gen.G Black to the lower bracket.
The third round of the upper bracket had qualification to next weekend’s main event on the line, with eight teams entering and hoping to secure one of four spots on the line.
Cloud9 White continued their dominance over the qualifiers, as they posted identical 13–6 scores on Haven and Ascent to send Immortals to the lower bracket, where they await the winner of Hamboigas and Dart Monkeys.
Misfits Black got revenge for their loss in the Astral Clash Grand Finals, taking a 2–0 (13–6 Haven, 13–6 Ascent) victory over Evil Geniuses in their third meeting in just over two months. Evil Geniuses are now poised to play the winner of Gen.G Black and EQ Cerise for their second shot at the main event.
Shopify Rebellion, last series’ runner up, faced off against a red-hot Complexity GX3 in what many said would be a test for the new team. Complexity showed up in full force, winning Haven 13–4, and Bind 13–6 to secure their spot in the main event. Shopify Rebellion now heads to the lower bracket to face the winner of 26 Rising and Ariana Grande Perfume with main event qualification on the line.
In a nail-biting reverse sweep, TSM X secured their slot in the main event despite dropping Pearl 9–13 by winning 13–6 on Haven and 13–10 on Breeze. XSET Purple looks for redemption against the winner of Team Mystic Venus and VersionX.
After their losses in the upper bracket, eight teams were forced onto a quick turnaround to play in the lower bracket with elimination on the line.
After a defeat at the hands of XSET Purple, Gen.G Black looked to bounce back against One Mom Four Kittens. They were able to win the opening map Haven 13–5, but dropped Bind 13–8 before closing out the series 13–4 on Ascent. Gen.G Black now looks ahead at a date with CLG Red in the next round.
After unfortunate circumstances lead to EQ Cerise forfeiting their match against TSM X, they faced CLG Red to start their lower bracket run. Despite losing the first map, Haven, 7–13, EQ Cerise bounced back on Bind and Pearl, with 13–8 scores on both, completing the reverse sweep.
Unfortunately, Riot’s Anti-Cheat team identified a prohibited third-party tool in use by a member of EQ Cerise during this match, disqualifying them, and advancing CLG Red to play Gen.G Black tomorrow.
In a battle of free agent titans, hamboigas were able to pull ahead of CROUCHSHOOTERS for an early lead on Icebox, eventually winning the map 13–7, and despite a shaky start on Ascent, winning 8 rounds in a row to close out the map 13–6, and the series 2–0. They will face fellow free agent powerhouse Dart Monkeys tomorrow.
In another clash of free agent teams, the newest iteration of Dart Monkeys took on Solaire. Korosu and Dart Monkeys would wrap up Solaire’s run in Series 3 by defeating them 13–8 on Breeze and 13–3 on Ascent, advancing to play hamboigas in the lower third round.
Team Mystic Venus bounced back from their loss against Misfits Black by winning 13–1 on Bind and 13–4 on Breeze against WHITEOUT behind Miku’s 13 first bloods in the series. They advance to a group stage rematch with VersionX.
Tactical Throwers began their series against VersionX with a statement, winning all 10 of their rounds played as attackers to take the first map, Haven 13–9. However, VersionX would bounce back, winning Fracture 13–4 and Pearl 13–6 to end Tactical Throwers’ run in Series 3. VersionX now looks for revenge against Team Mystic Venus, who defeated them 2–0 in the group stage.
26 Rising (or 24 Rising in the case of Seoul) opened their match against Fake Aussies with a bang, winning Haven 13–0, and continued their success into Ascent, winning 13–7. They now advance towards a matchup with Ariana Grande Perfume.
Despite Ariana Grande Perfume’s strong start on Haven, NMG Celeste won five rounds in a row before eventually falling 8–13. The roles would switch on Bind, as NMG would win 13–9, tying the match at one map apiece heading into the decider map of Icebox. However, Ariana Grande Perfume would excel on Icebox, winning the map 13–2. They now advance to play 26 Rising in the next round.
