The Series III Main Event is set, with eight teams and a trip to São Paulo on the line.
Although Version1 has already locked in their spot in Brazil, the seven remaining teams in the Main Event can still punch their ticket to the Game Changers Championship.
Version1 have secured their spot in the Game Changers Championship, but the safety net of guaranteed qualification should not damper their performance in the Main Event. They made their way through the Open and Closed qualifiers in perfect fashion, taking down Husky Phantom X and :3 in the Open stage, before defeating Berzerkers Purple and Noot Noot in the Closed stage.
Version1 have yet to lose a map in Game Changers since their inception, and are looking to complete a three-peat in North America with a win in Series III.
Disguised made a statement in their first appearance in Series II, placing third and receiving 50 circuit points. Disguised put together a clean run through the qualifiers, defeating Harmony Opal and Wildflowers in the Open Qualifier, and Supernova Galaxy and FlyQuest RED in the Closed Qualifier, not losing a map in the process.
Unfortunately, as Shopify Rebellion has secured a minimum of 20 circuit points by qualifying to the Main Event, Disguised cannot receive the second slot in North America and must win Series III outright to qualify to Brazil.
Complexity GX3, currently third in circuit points standings, behind only Shopify Rebellion and Version1, want to make sure they fly to Brazil in November alongside Version1. They defeated Endear Sol and Supernova Galaxy in the Open Qualifier, then defeating Wildflowers and Wingman Patrol in the Closed Qualifier to advance to the Main Event, although they did drop a map to Wingman Patrol
They must overtake Shopify Rebellion in the circuit points standings, and hold off Wingman Patrol and Evil Geniuses who are right on their heels, should they not win Series III and assuming Version1 takes the crown.
Shopify Rebellion are looking to return to the Game Changers Championship, with the same core of flowerful, KP, and sonder that placed second last year. In the Open Qualifier, they defeated IVC White and Berzerkers Purple, and beat out :3 and Evil Geniuses to continue their run in Series III.
They currently hold the lead in circuit points, excluding Version1, but should Version1 win Series III, they must place higher (or the same as) Complexity GX3 to retain their lead.
Evil Geniuses, after restructuring their roster, look to secure a spot in Brazil following a tumultuous season. They defeated OverAchievers and Infiniti X in the Open Qualifier, and took down Misfits Black in the Closed Qualifier, but lost to Shopify Rebellion, forcing them to play a do-or-die series against Supernova Galaxy in the lower bracket, which they won.
They have a mountain to climb, as they are currently in last place out of the teams with enough circuit points to qualify to the Game Changers Championship. If Shopify Rebellion break into the top four, Evil Geniuses must win Series III to advance.
Once again, a Free Agent team has qualified for the Main Event. Noot Noot, a longstanding name within the free agent scene in North America, qualified to the Main event by defeating the Chicago Sirens and ThriveHQ GC in the Open Qualifier, and Reverse 7, FT Silvxs, and Wildflowers in the Closed Qualifier, although they suffered a loss to Version1 on their path.
As they only have 20 circuit points from Series I and II, they will have to win Series III outright if they want to continue in VCT Game Changers this year.
FlyQuest RED would like to end their year on a high note, following a rollercoaster in and out of the server. In Series III, they defeated Sovereignty and Solidarity in the Open Qualifier, and Teddy Tactics and 42C Crayola Pack in the Closed Qualifier, before losing to Disguised. They were able to bounce back against :3 and advanced to the Main Event.
FlyQuest does not have enough circuit points to qualify for the second slot in Brazil, so they must win Series III to attend the Game Changers Championship.
Retaining the core of XSET and the 90 circuit points, Wingman Patrol look to leverage a strong Series III performance into a trip to Brazil. They defeated VizUprising Invicta and 1MillisecondX in the Open Qualifier and Solidarity in their first match of the Closed Qualifier, but fell short against Complexity, setting up a redemption match against FT Silvix, in which they won and subsequently advanced to the Main Event.
As they currently sit in third place in the circuit points standings (excluding V1) they must both place as high as possible, while hoping that Shopify does not place higher than fifth, and that Complexity does not place higher than fourth.
The field of teams that can qualify to the Game Changers Championship alongside Version1 and Team Liquid Brazil can thin as soon as today. The Game Changers North America Series III Main Event kicks off today at 2 pm PST.
