Day 2 of North America’s Series 1 has come to a close with two teams eliminated and two teams locking in a top three finish.
The second day in North America’s Series 1 saw two seeding upsets, alongside two teams securing a top three finish, and two teams unfortunately ending their quest for the regional crown.
In the upper bracket, Shopify Rebellion continued their dominance over the region, with a 2–0 victory over Decimate, 13–5 on Breeze, and 13–7 on Icebox, securing their top three finish and sending Decimate to the lower bracket.
On the other side of the upper bracket, FlyQuest RED and Passion Project faced off in a rematch of the second open qualifier’s grand final, in which Passion Project walked away with a close 2–1 victory.
Things would seem to be the same early in the series, as Passion Project stole FlyQuest’s map pick in a hard-fought 14–12 on Sunset, but FlyQuest would strike back with intent, stringing together back-to-back 13–4 victories on Icebox and Ascent, taking the series in a reverse sweep 2–1.
In the lower bracket, four teams fought for their tournament hopes. In the first match of the day, Supernova Galaxy took on The Boys, taking them down handedly with a 13–5 on Lotus followed by a 13–1 on Ascent.
On the other side of the lower bracket, Infinity X and YFP X fought to begin lower bracket runs of their own. Infinity X drew first blood 13–11 on Ascent, but YFP X struck back 13–7 on Sunset. On the decider of Lotus, Infinity X and their double sentinel composition featuring a Deadlock could not close out an early 9–5 lead, losing 10–13.
Tomorrow’s matches will take place entirely within the lower bracket, with Passion Project and Supernova Galaxy to start the day, followed by Decimate and YFP X. Shopify Rebellion and FlyQuest RED will get a day off as they prepare for the upper final.
