In the fourth day of North America’s Series 1, the field of teams narrowed from four to three with only two matches left to play.
The fourth day of North America’s Game Changers Series 1 determined the top three teams, with only the lower and grand final left to play.
The day commenced with the upper final between Shopify Rebellion and FlyQuest RED, a rematch of the grand finals of the first open qualifier, wherein Shopify walked away with a 2–1 victory.
This series began on Ascent, with both teams employing the “default” composition. Shopify jumped out to an early 9–3 halftime lead, eventually closing out the map 13–6 behind florescent’s 20 kills.
Having lost their map pick, FlyQuest RED made sure to strike back on Bind, bringing out a Yoru and Raze double duelist composition. With kills evenly spread across the team FlyQuest won the slugfest on Bind 13–11 with both dodonut and L4CE tallying 21 kills.
The final map, Lotus, began with a strong Shopify Rebellion start, getting an early 7–3 lead, and winning the first five rounds of the second half to go up 12–5. They would lose two rounds, but eventually close out the map 13–7, winning the series 13–7 and advancing to the grand finals.
FlyQuest’s run was not done, as they moved to the lower final to face the winner of Passion Project and Decimate.
The lower semifinal pitted Passion Project against Decimate, both teams looking to continue their lower bracket runs.
Beginning on Split, Passion Project made a statement, winning nine rounds in a row on their way to a quick 13–5 victory, with 11 rounds in the first half.
Moving to Breeze, Decimate was put on their back foot, but hoped they could win their map pick to level the series. They won the first half, 7–5, and continued their success into the second half with six more to win 13–9, evening the series.
In the final map, Sunset, Passion Project put together a strong first half, leading 8–4 as the sides switched, but as soon as the sides swapped, the momentum swung the other way. Off the back of seven spike defusals, Decimate was able to win nine rounds in the second half, winning the map 13–11, and the series 2–1, ending Passion Project’s run in Series 1.
Only one match will take place tomorrow, the lower bracket final (best of five) between FlyQuest RED and Decimate, while Shopify Rebellion gets the day off as they await the victor in the grand final.
